SHEQ Health & Safety Advisor – Cardiff / South Wales

Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 per annum

SEDR Recruitment is partnering with a national civil engineering and earthworks contractor to appoint a SHEQ Health & Safety Advisor for a major infrastructure programme in South Wales.

The appointed advisor will play a key site-based role supporting operational delivery on a large-scale earthworks and remediation contract, working closely with project teams to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive, site-based HSE advice and coaching to operational teams and subcontractors

  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and safety tours to promote best practice

  • Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and refresher training to all levels of staff

  • Lead and support investigations into incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts

  • Review, update, and maintain project-specific RAMS and risk assessments

  • Monitor site performance and prepare accurate monthly SHEQ reports

  • Drive behavioural safety and continuous improvement through engagement and visibility

  • Liaise confidently with client SHE representatives and support regular review meetings


Requirements

Essential

  • Previous experience in a Health & Safety or SHEQ role within civil engineering, earthworks, or major construction

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)

  • Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and site-based compliance

  • Practical, approachable, and confident communicator at all levels

Desirable

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 management systems

  • Experience delivering safety initiatives across multiple live projects
