Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) Advisor – Regional

A leading, compliance-led civil engineering and plant services contractor is seeking a Regional SHEQ Advisor to support operations across South Wales and the South West of England.

The business operates a self-delivery model across civil engineering, plant, and development works, with a strong reputation for safety, quality, and operational excellence. This is a stable contractor with a strong pipeline of work.

The Role

This is a regional, site-facing advisory role, rotating across live projects. You will have full ownership of your diary, planning site visits and managing priorities to support operational teams effectively.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing SHEQ policies and procedures across live sites, ensuring compliance with current legislation

  • Providing technical SHEQ advice and guidance to project teams, site managers, supervisors, and plant operators

  • Carrying out regular site inspections and audits, producing clear and actionable reports

  • Promoting key safe behaviours across the workforce and supply chain

  • Supporting and leading accident, incident, and near-miss investigations

  • Working collaboratively with delivery teams to reduce and eliminate SHEQ risk through design, planning, and safe systems of work

  • Contributing to continuous improvement and innovation in SHEQ performance

About You

You’ll be confident working independently, comfortable travelling between sites, and effective at engaging with operational teams.

Essential:

  • Experience within construction, civil engineering, or heavy plant environments

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a SHEQ role

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent)

  • IEMA Foundation Certificate (or equivalent)

  • CSCS card

  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Auditing experience

  • Membership of relevant industry bodies

Package

  • £50,000 – £65,000 salary, dependent on experience

  • Company car or car allowance
